Publication in The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics: Novel Mitochondrial Modulation
1 December 2025
Excellerate Bioscience are proud to have supported a recent publication in The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.
The research highlights a novel class of developmental drugs developed by Istesso that uniquely modulate mitochondrial dynamics.
Our pharmacology team supported early mechanistic validation work, generating high-quality in vitro datasets exploring the mechanism of action in mitochondrial metabolism modulation including:
- Kinetic mitochondrial and cellular/metabolic activity assessments using human primary immune and fibroblastic cell models.
- Detailed mechanistic in vitro assays providing evidence of mitochondrial Complex I modulation and downstream signalling effects in proliferation, differentiation, adaptation and metabolite quantification.
- Functional bioenergetic profiling to assess compound impact on mitochondrial respiration, membrane potential and ROS generation.
This work builds on Excellerate’s expertise in complex cellular models and mitochondrial activity screening.
